During the season of Lent, I had the incredible honor of being asked to preach (twice!) at my home church.
On the second Sunday of Lent I spoke about God's covenant with His people... about how the covenant is initiated by God and our decision is whether we accept and obey (or not). In studying Genesis 15:1-12 and 15:17-18, it became so apparent to me that God is the INITIATOR and that my "yes" has transformed my life.
On Good Friday, the most holy of days, I spoke about God's forgiveness and Jesus' promise to the thief on the cross next to Him that they would be together in Paradise (Luke 23:32-43). That story was an integral part of my own father's conversion to Christian faith. He died on Good Friday in 2012. How providential to be able to share part of his story four years later on the anniversary of his death!
The entire preaching experience was one of the most powerful of my life. Throughout, I was in awe of the miraculous ways God cares for us. Even now, months later, I am overwhelmed with God's love for me and for all of His children.
